The terms 'counselling' and 'psychotherapy' are often used interchangeably, but counselling generally refers to targeted, shorter-term emotional support for a specific life event, whereas psychotherapy is generally seen as a longer-term process of getting to know yourself better in order to gain more control over your life and to implement change.

Psychotherapy began with Sigmund Freud's school of psychoanalysis in late nineteenth-century Vienna, and since then has developed into a multitude of theoretical approaches. As an integrative practitioner, I draw on a range of theories, to help you move towards the change you want to see.
